What it is
Ambient Flow is a free instrument that runs in the browser. There's no account and nothing to install: open it, and the night sky becomes your keyboard. It combines a tap-to-play synth and sequencer with binaural waves, nature sounds, a sleep timer and recording.
What's inside
Night-sky synth
Tap anywhere on the night sky to play a tone, then click a step in the grid to lock it into a 32-step sequence. Each track keeps its own scale, oscillator, filter and envelope settings — see the sound design section below for the full list.
Binaural waves
Switch between Delta (2 Hz), Theta (5 Hz) and Alpha (9 Hz) frequencies. Headphones are required for the binaural effect to work.
Nature sounds
A looping night-ambience and cricket sound that plays underneath whatever else you're running.
Sleep timer
Set 15, 30 or 60 minutes. When the countdown ends, all sound fades out and turns off automatically.
Recording
The REC button records your session. Press STOP and it downloads to your device as a WAV file.
Presets & export
Use SAVE to store your current patterns and sound settings in the browser. You can also export a preset as JSON or a sequence as MIDI.
Sound design
The panel behind the synth has its own controls. Most are captured into a track the moment you add it; a few stay shared across the whole mix.
Oscillators
Two oscillators (OSC1 and OSC2) with several waveforms — sine, triangle, square, saw, warm pad, glass bell, vox — plus OSC2's own octave and volume, detune and unison for a thicker sound.
Filter and envelope
Filter resonance (Filt Q), tone and timbre shape the sound's character; attack and decay shape how each note starts and fades.
Scale and harmony
10 scales — pentatonic, minor, major, hirajoshi, dorian, lydian, mixolydian, blues, harmonic minor and whole tone — a range setting from sub-bass to standard, a chord mode (power 5th, triad, sus4, 7th), and an arpeggiator with four patterns.
Texture
A noise layer and drive (saturation) add grit, and a looper repeats a phrase.
Master effects
Reverb, a tempo-synced delay and echo each have their own on/off switch and apply to the whole mix rather than a single track. Turning one off doesn't affect the others.

Questions
Do I need headphones?
For binaural waves, yes — the effect depends on each ear hearing a slightly different tone. Everything else works through speakers.
Is it free?
Yes. There's no account and no in-app purchases.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, it runs in mobile and desktop browsers.
Will I lose my sequence if I close the tab?
No, if you press Save first — that keeps your patterns in the browser for next time. You can also export them as a file to keep permanently.
Can I use what I record?
Yes. Recordings download as WAV files and sequences export as MIDI, free to use however you like.
