Inside the Relax Player: A Deep Dive Into Every Feature
The Relax Player is the heart of SYNTHLUCIDA — a free, browser-based ambient player built for winding down, focusing, or falling asleep. It has grown far beyond a simple "press play" tool, so here's a proper, detailed look at everything inside it.
Playlists: Three curated categories sit at the top of the screen — ASMR, PIANO and CHILL — and switching between them no longer interrupts whatever is already playing, so browsing is free and low-pressure. Whichever playlist was played last is remembered automatically the next time the player opens, so there's no need to hunt it down again.
20 visual themes: NEON, SPACE, EARTH, SYNTH, DARK, BLOOD, AQUA, GOLD, MATRIX, AMBER, LAVENDER, AURORA, SAKURA, FROST, ROSEGOLD, ROYAL, CORAL, TOXIC, PLASMA, MINT and SOLAR each recolor the whole interface and its ambient glow. Most themes hold a steady palette, but NEON and AURORA are animated — their colors drift and shift gently on their own over time, so the screen never feels static even at a standstill.
Weather & sky effects: WEATHER cycles through four states that can be layered on top of any theme: a warm SUN scene with slowly crossfading sunset photos and a drifting flock of birds, a soft falling RAIN animation, a quiet WINTER snowfall, and a windier WINTER II blizzard with faster, slanted snow. SUNSET adds a second, independent layer that cycles between a warm sunset gradient and a living, starry NIGHT sky with a softly glowing moon — and both layers are remembered automatically once saved.
Guided breathing: The BREATHE button opens a full-screen session built around a slowly pulsing orb, with five techniques to choose from — 4-7-8, Box, Coherent, Calm and Sigh — each explained in its own dedicated in-screen guide. It pairs naturally with the SLEEP TIMER, which can shut playback off automatically after 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or be cancelled at any time.
Crossfade & playback history: CROSSFADE blends the end of one track into the start of the next over 3, 6, 8 or 10 seconds, or can be switched off entirely for a hard cut — and it works correctly alongside both shuffle and repeat. The 🕘 HISTORY panel logs every track played, with its playlist and timestamp, so a track can be tapped to replay it, exported as a plain text file, or the whole log cleared for a fresh start.
My Playlist: Tapping the ♥ next to any track — in the main playlist or in HISTORY — adds it to 🎵 MY PLAYLIST, and tapping it again removes it, with picks staying marked between visits. Tracks can be reordered with ▲▼ or removed with ✕, then played through in that exact order, still fully compatible with shuffle and repeat. Backup tools cover both directions: 📄 EXPORT TXT for a readable list, 💾 EXPORT PLAYLIST to save a reloadable file, and 📂 IMPORT PLAYLIST to bring a saved playlist back in.
XP, levels & unlocking downloads: Ordinary use quietly earns experience — roughly 2 XP per minute listened, 4 XP for every track played past the 20-second mark, 20 XP for every BREATHE session held for at least a minute, and a 30 XP bonus for each new day the app is opened, rewarding both daily visits and longer streaks. Every 180 XP raises the level by one. Once a track is hearted into MY PLAYLIST, accumulating XP gradually unlocks it for a genuine ⬇ MP3 download — one track at a time, in the order it was added, at a cost of 270 XP per unlock. The S button shows the current level, XP progress, and exactly which tracks are unlocked.
My Files: The F button opens a personal library where audio files can be uploaded straight from a device with + ADD AUDIO FILES, then combined into named playlists that freely mix a user's own tracks with SYNTHLUCIDA's catalog. Anything playing from My Files works with the same shuffle, repeat and crossfade controls as the main player, and everything stays local to the device — nothing is ever uploaded anywhere.
Save, fullscreen & offline listening: SAVE stores the current theme, effects and other preferences so they load automatically on the next visit, and FULLSCREEN hides the browser interface for a cleaner, distraction-free screen. ⬇ DOWNLOAD OFFLINE saves the current playlist for offline playback — though that only works inside the installed app, not a regular browser tab.
Gentle reminders: 🔔 REMINDERS sends short local notifications on a chosen interval — every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1, 2 or 4 hours — as a gentle nudge to take a break. Everything runs locally on-device, nothing is sent to any server, and the whole thing can be switched off from the same panel at any time.
Thanks for taking the time to read all this — and even more for giving the Relax Player a try. Every listen, heart and saved playlist genuinely makes this worth building.
