SYNTHLUCIDA WEATHER is a simple weather forecast page that runs right in your browser. It has no sign-up, no visitor login, no contact form and no ads, and it has no server of its own where your data could be stored. Below is exactly what gets sent where when you use it, and why.

Location and Open-Meteo

If you tap the location button, your browser will ask for permission to share your location. This only happens when you choose it yourself. We never access your location automatically or without that permission. The coordinates are immediately rounded to roughly 1 km, so your exact position is never sent or stored anywhere.

The coordinates (or the name of the city you search for) are sent directly from your browser to Open-Meteo, an external provider of weather forecasts and city search. The forecast can’t be loaded without it.

ISS flyovers

To show when the International Space Station will fly over you, the app also sends the rounded coordinates of the selected place to the public ISS API by Pollux Labs, which calculates the passes. Nothing other than these coordinates is sent.

Anonymous visitor statistics

We count how many people use the app with GoatCounter. It uses no cookies, doesn’t track you across websites and doesn’t store your IP address. It only records basic anonymous visit data: the page viewed, where you came from, browser type, screen size and approximate country.

Local storage (localStorage)

The last selected city, your favourite cities and your chosen colour theme are stored only in localStorage on your device, so the app can show you the same forecast next time. This data never leaves your device and isn’t sent to any server. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Google Fonts

The site loads fonts (Orbitron, Poppins, JetBrains Mono) from Google Fonts. When the page loads, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which may include transferring your IP address. This isn’t cross-site tracking or marketing, it’s purely the technical delivery of the fonts.

What the site doesn’t do
